NFL Week 1 coverage map: TV schedule for CBS, Fox regional broadcasts | Sporting News (2024)

The long wait for the start of the NFL season is over, and fans are going to be ready to watch as much football as possible on the first NFL Sunday of the 2022 season.

The first NFL Sunday always contains a loaded slate. There will be 13 games taking place during the early and late afternoon windows while a 14th will take place when "Sunday Night Football" kicks off at 8:20 p.m. ET.

Fans will be able to indulge in plenty of the week's best games before that Sunday night clash; the only question is about which games will be broadcast in their local markets.

Per usual, the Sunday afternoon slate of NFL Week 1 will be split evenly between CBS and Fox. Both networks will broadcast a game in the 1 p.m. ET and 4:25 p.m. ET windows. That's something that doesn't happen often during the season, as the networks tend to alternate between one having a featured game in the 4:25 p.m. ET slot.

But this week, both CBS and Fox want to provide consumers with as much football as possible.

It is CBS that will get the better end of the 13-game split this week. It will broadcast seven games compared to the six that Fox will get. That said, each network is leaning primarily on its late game to drive viewership. CBS will broadcast the Cardinals vs. Chiefs game while Fox will look to capitalize on the Vikings vs. Packers matchup.

The early slate is more of a mixed bag, as nine games will be broadcast on the two networks at that time. Fox will handle more of the NFC coverage this week while CBS will show more of the AFC-centered matchups.

Below are the full NFL coverage maps for Week 1,plus a list of major TV markets and the CBS and Fox games that will be presented in each on Sunday.
