If you haven't tried this recipe, you have to. It's so good. I brought my crock pot to work for a party, with the rest already premade. My office ate it all during the lunch hour. There wasn't any leftovers. They asked me to make it again soon.

This is so similar to the Skillet Queso from Friday's that we not make at home very frequently. I love that you added the ground beef and bacon. Can't wait to try it. I think the same suits, it's perfect!

FAQs

How do you keep queso from burning in a crock pot? ›

Cover and cook on the LOW setting until the Velveeta is completely melted, about 1 hour. Whisk until smooth, then turn the slow-cooker setting to WARM if your slow cooker has that setting. If your slow cooker doesn't have a warm setting, leave on LOW uncovered to keep the dip warm without burning.

How do you make store bought queso dip better? ›

Too often, jarred queso tastes more like nacho cheese sauce. Adding jalapeños and other peppers will spice things up. Those who don't like their dip hot can use ingredients like pickled juices and garlic to enhance its flavor instead.

How do you reheat queso in a slow cooker? ›

Reheat queso in a Crockpot on the low setting, stirring until it's fully warmed through. Stir in more evaporated milk if it's too thick. You can also reheat it in the microwave in 30-second intervals. I don't recommend freezing cheese dips because the texture will not hold up well when frozen, thawed, and reheated.

How do you eat cheese dip? ›

What to Serve With Cheese Dip. Serve this hearty cheese dip with tortilla chips, vegetables, pretzels, crackers, or homemade crostini. It also makes an indulgent topping for nachos, French fries, or baked potatoes.

How do you keep queso from getting thick? ›

If you find it's getting too thick, whisk in a couple of tablespoons of whole milk to thin it. Serve it straight from the pan kept over low heat on your stove or transfer the queso to a slow cooker set on warm.

Why does my queso not melt? ›

Why won't my cheese melt? There are many reasons, but the biggest is the moisture content. The moisture content of the cheese has a great effect on the melting process. Cheese that contains higher amounts of fat will melt better than one that doesn't.

How do you keep cheese dip creamy? ›

For dips, you'll want to use a tablespoon of cornstarch per pound of cheese, then add at least five ounces of evaporated milk. After that, you can use more evaporated milk to thin out your dip as much as you need.

How do you keep homemade queso from separating? ›

Usually, when cheese melts, the fat and proteins begin to separate, but sodium citrate “binds them together so that when they melt, they do it evenly and hom*ogeneously,” Vaculin explains. Keeping the mixture hom*ogenized ensures that this queso fundido can stand the test of time.

Why is my queso dip watery? ›

Dips can turn watery if food, such as chips or vegetables like carrots and celery, is being dipped directly into the container and then refrigerated and re-opened for later use.

How do restaurants keep queso warm? ›

For liquids that need to stay hot, like soup, restaurants can use round warmers (also known as soup warmers). These warmers will keep soups and other liquids at safe temperatures for long periods. They can also be used to melt cheese, making them very versatile.

Why is my crockpot queso grainy? ›

High heat causes the proteins in the cheese to become denatured, resulting in clumping. It's also why citrus helps fix the problem. Acids unwind the clumped-up protein molecules and prevent the sauce from seizing any further.

How much queso for 50 guests? ›

Plan on approx. 1/2 cup per person, give-or-take depending on how much other food is being served. For serving, keep queso sauce warm in a small slow cooker or fondue pot.

What do you dip in queso dip? ›

Serving Suggestions. Serve the queso warm with tortilla chips. Dunk the chips into that warm cheesy sauce and you will be in heaven! You can also use the queso as a dip for taquitos, quesadillas, burritos, or drizzle it over tacos or nachos.

Can you overcook cheese dip? ›

If your cheese sauce gets too hot on the stove, the cheese will become overcooked and begin to separate or curdle.

How do I stop food from burning in a slow cooker? ›

Layer and fold sheets of heavy duty foil until you have a six-layered foil rectangle. Press the collar into the back side of your slow cooker insert (or wherever your hot spot is); the food will help hold the collar in place during cooking.

How do you keep mac and cheese from burning in a crock pot? ›

Give it a stir.

No need to precook the pasta for creamy crock pot mac and cheese, though it's important to stir everything a few times to ensure it all cooks evenly. This also prevents the noodles from sticking to the bottom or sides and potentially burning.

Can you use crockpot liners for cheese dip? ›

Place cubed cheese product, chicken, tomatoes and green chilies, and cumin (if desired) into slow cooker liner. Place lid on slow cooker. Cook on low for 2 hours or until cheese is melted.

How do you keep cheese fondue from burning? ›

After preparing the cheese fondue, in order to prevent it from scorching, keep it warm and stir frequently. Never move the fondue set when hot. Do not overfill the fondue pot or otherwise the contents may splatter over the edge. Keep the outside of the fondue pot clean so that the pot does not catch fire.
