I went to Westfield Parramatta Samsung Store to have my Flip inner screen protector replaced for free. The lady took around 10 mins after I filled up the paper work.

Did they do it Infront of you? Interesting to see the process
haggle on 01/03/2024 - 20:47
nah, she brought it at the back, closed doors.
Gronkmaster69 on 01/03/2024 - 23:19
I assume they asked for proof of purchase?
haggle on 01/03/2024 - 23:44
yes, that's correct.
fakefilo on 01/03/2024 - 20:40
Nice! My Z Flip 3 only had 1 free replacement. I then paid for another replacement for $69, when the protector started peeling off again, I just traded it in.
Hardicus on 01/03/2024 - 22:56
Same experience, except I bought a third party protector on eBay for a few bucks which has lasted much better than my previous 2 stock ones.
crazyperpman on 02/03/2024 - 09:08
I have the exact same esperience.
@Hardicus was it hard for you to apply yourself?
Can you share what you bought?
TIA!

Dead easy to install but I bought 3 just incase I screwed it up (which I didn't).
This is the one I bought https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/403372623705?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…
Only thing I've noticed is that it has gotten a few dents since I installed it (likely from my fingernails or something) but I can only see them when I'm wearing polarised sunglasses. In any case it will be easy to replace with a spare when I can be bothered.

I replaced my flip 3 myself with one from aliexpress. Screen broke soon after and samsung fixed it for free

mine just came off in the middle folding part after a year of light use. no damage or anything. If you need to replace that every year i won't be buying another folding phone.
leonardr on 01/03/2024 - 20:59
This is exactly my issue, fantastic phone but average yearly folding screen protector replacement over about 3 years, and I don't even unfold overly often!

Same here. This is one reason why i went back to a standard phone after owning a Z Flip 3. Overall, the technology/build quality on flip isn't very good yet.
This 'free service' sounds more like they are admitting there's a fundamental problem and they haven't figured out how to prevent it yet.
bxpressiv on 01/03/2024 - 21:04
The fundamental problem with a folding phone is they haven't designed a screen protector for it? I keep it on there until it starts lifting (12 months+, usually humidity and to affect it more for me) and then I peel it off. To my surprise, the phone still functions after it's removal.
Creamsoda on 01/03/2024 - 21:21
They know exactly this problem so they're offering 3 replacements for 24months on the Z Flip 4 and 5. the screen looks horrible with the screen protector coming off massive bubble line in the middle. the screen won't last long with out the protector as its fragile.
bxpressiv on 02/03/2024 - 10:50
@Creamsoda: I've had a (Fold - can't talk to the flip) ZF2 and ZF4 naked and with the interior screen protector removed for extended periods, never replaced, and haven't had an issue. Plenty of people report the same. What happened when you removed your screen protector, or is your assessment based on belief rather than experience? In terms of scratches, the outside screen is the one you want a screen protector on.

Mine came off a while back, but honestly, you don't need it. Being folded protects the screen better than any cover as it is.

After mine came off the fold 4 … They refused to do it after 1 year of use …
So i no longer use a fold phone.. the fold has a few issues
Maggie1905 on 02/03/2024 - 07:41
More than a few issues. It's so disappointing! Mine lasted a year then wouldn't open all the way. Eventually the top screen just stopped working. Phone didn't have a single scratch!
fprjet on 02/03/2024 - 10:13
I had the Motorola Razr 2019 flip sold it because cracked outside screen but in the 4 years I owned it the inner screen never had problems…. If you can deal with the Motorola Ui it is built better than the Samsung……But if you have Samsung watch etc thats where you notice how good Samsung is….
lasertip on 02/03/2024 - 11:40
My protector came off the fold 3 just after 1 year. It took a lengthy RMA process to get the protector replaced under warranty.

It's literally just a PSA. This hasn't changed in 2 years+.
Anyone with a Samsung foldable knows. If they need a screen protector replacement and don't, they'll find it in a minute of googling anyway.
Gronkmaster69 on 01/03/2024 - 23:20
Used to be only 1 per year I believe.
10101010101 on 01/03/2024 - 21:47
Its a shame they only last up to 1yr before they crack at the fold. And unless you take it to a service centre then they have to send it away and youre without a phone for about a week
Maggie1905 on 02/03/2024 - 07:40
My flip 4 lasted a year, it's so annoying…
Sammyboy on 01/03/2024 - 21:47
Online and on phone, samsung customer service ask you to backup and wipe your phone. I could maybe understand it if you drop your phone off at a drop off point where it has to be sent off and is gone for a few days.
I was dropping it off a Chadstone where they actually have the machine and do it on the spot. The customer service person took it around the back and installed it in 5mins. What a waste of time backing up as well as copying photos which took forever. Didn't back up Samsung notes specifically which I assumed was auto backed up in the backup process. However Samsung doesn't enable auto backup for notes onto cloud by default. Everything else is though! How stupid!
fprjet on 02/03/2024 - 10:10
Don't us e Samsung notes use Keep notes, download from play store and also download on pc where it is viewable when you open your gmail, Whether you take the notes on phone or Pc it is viewable in both if you sell your phone it's still there on Pc….I learnt when I went from Samsung to Motorola flip and didn't backup some important stuff…
pilmarion on 01/03/2024 - 22:13
When my protecter started ripping out, I went there and they told me it's free once within 12 months but sounds like they bumped it to 3 within 24 months?
hope17 on 01/03/2024 - 22:33
My husband did this earlier this year, he went to the Samsung shop in Sydney CBD and they took no details off him or anything which was odd!
shazzzzy on 01/03/2024 - 22:37
I actually asked for free screen protector replacement via Samsung live chat last year, they told me I need to bring my Flip 4 to service centre, they need 24-48 hours to replace it then return to me, cannot be done on the spot at Samsung store, which is ridiculous so I didn't follow. Maybe they improved their service now…
VictimEqualsProfit on 02/03/2024 - 07:29
If they actually have another protector in stock they will do it for you while you wait.
edrift on 02/03/2024 - 07:33
Not all stores do it..E.g in Melbourne the Doncaster store doesn't do it and they make you go to Chadstone instead
RichnPoor on 02/03/2024 - 10:58
Samsung stores are hopeless because they send (ship) your device to a third party Samsung authorised repairer anyway.
umoddbro on 01/03/2024 - 23:50
Did you have to factory reset your phone? Mine all of a sudden started getting air bubbles in the crease and was told they will need to factory reset in order to replace the screen protector…. Not sure if I can he bothered with that.
Dumax on 02/03/2024 - 01:17
I had the entire screen on my Flip4 replaced due to a hinge issue and it wasn't reset (YMMV). Doubt that they're going to require a factory reset to only change the screen protector.
Johnnychung on 02/03/2024 - 03:01
I had recently had was screen protector replace on my Samsing Z Fold 4 at Samsung Store. Mine had air bubles and streaks in the centre crease.Your not required to do a factory reset. As long as your Flip/Fold is still under 24 months warranty. I was done on the spot which took 15mins to have the screen protector replacement.
edrift on 02/03/2024 - 07:28

I also couldn't be bothered and didn't. Then one day the screen cracked right under the centre crease so I had to get it sent away for replacement in the end anyway.
If you leave the bubble there it'll eventually destroy the screen
pyramid on 02/03/2024 - 07:38
There is something called maintenance mode which they turned on so you don't need to erase data. I
BoomTetrisForJeff on 02/03/2024 - 10:53
Yes I had to factory reset mine under warranty and take it to a "service centre"(Harvey Norman Nunawading, Vic)
Where they sent it off to a authorised repair shop where it took a week LolLooks like in VIC Chadstone is the only place they do it on the spot without resetting
RichnPoor on 02/03/2024 - 11:05
If you visit the Samsung Authorized repairer located near EZY mart in the CBD, they offer "same-day repair and return" for your device if you bring it in during the morning.
No resets are needed as they will simply place your device in maintenance mode. Proof of purchase is necessary.
After repair, it's recommended to inspect your device! They attempted to dismiss a mistake as normal residue left inside the screen protector, but promptly fixed the issue on the spot.
jace88 on 02/03/2024 - 06:21
Is this considered part of the care+ or just for everyone who owns a fold/flip 5?
VictimEqualsProfit on 02/03/2024 - 07:27
Some people say they just take the screen protector off and leave it that way. They say they don't have any problems?
edrift on 02/03/2024 - 07:34
Well the screen can then get scratches.. but that's honestly better that the risk of cracks with a bubbled screen protector
emblurr on 02/03/2024 - 09:08
I had the inner screen protector replaced at an authorised dealer last year. The replacement bubbled up at the seam within a month. So I took it off and it's been fine.

I though they were transmission gaskets, been around cars too long
Snapchien on 02/03/2024 - 10:38
Ditched my Flip of barely a year old last night. Absolutely useless phones. Had constant issues with creases / the hinges not working, and the battery life would last 3-4 hours off charge for a light user.
Don't get one.
VictimEqualsProfit on 02/03/2024 - 11:19
The bad hinges are probably caused by phone drops. If you drop your phone regularly you're better off with another phone.
